Born in 1990, my very first post is from 2003 — when I was 13 years old.  This website is maintained as a living journal of my academic and emotional progress.  It documents every relationship I have ever been in and every serious worry I have ever felt.  It tends to focus around me because it is, well, mine.

Why write?

I am a bibliophile, denied the time to read but gleefully lost in the library that is my room. After the basic kindergarten necessities, I initially observed all that I have since experienced through literature. I facilely slip into (over?)analyzation of myself and the world around me, and long ago sacrificed my creed not to judge. My perspective tints the mood of my writing the same way food coloring alters the hue of submerged easter eggs: inevitably. While impartiality is impossible, I hope to avoid blatant bias.

I could, of course, confide in people rather than the emotionless ‘net. But though I enjoy critiques, in the end, I must trust my own analytics to carry me through the day.

Not all of my poetry is good, and little of it is great. At times, the simple, clean, innocent prose of my earlier pieces was consumed by the unfortunately voluminous diction of bitterness.

I wish I could boast a more extensive, witty, or excellent collection, but the modest selection on this site (and on my dependable, omniscient laptop) is all I can claim.

Recognition

In addition to having a few pieces published in my high school literary magazine, upon editor’s request (Empty Chair, Drifting, and Journal), my poem “Mosaic” was a Regional Winner and a National Honorable Mention in the Live Poet’s Society of New Jersey’s Spring 2007 Competition. I was also awarded the National Council of Teachers of English’s Achievement Award in Writing for the combination of my impromptu piece and the 10-poem collection including: Baptism, Plaster, I Wonder Why, Lightning, Mosaic, Desire, Dancing in the Rain, My Body is My Temple – I Decorate Accordingly, Little Babies, and Insinuation.

Though I chose not to pursue writing in college, sometimes I post class essays simply because my synthesis of sources is original and my analysis new, and perhaps enlightening.  I’ve also sought and received display in the University of Minnesota – Duluth honors publication, Aisthesis.
