Dancing in the Rain
Knowing when I’m done
I’ll drip from head to toe.
Not caring, only wanting
To be so wet
I forget everything else.
Splashing from one puddle to another.
Gradually as it rains harder,
They all blend together.
Hair pulled up out of my eyes,
So I don’t miss a drop.
Clothes sticking to my skin,
And the dye from my jeans
Begins to run down my legs
In slender blue streaks.
The harder it pours,
The harder I laugh.
Opening my mouth wide,
For the beads, in all their acidic goodness,
To fall inside.
Wiping the water from my face
With my equally damp sleeve
Only manages to spread it.
Savoring every moment,
Acutely aware that all too soon
The door will open,
And the house will beckon.
My eyelashes clump together,
While the sky cries.
