Lightning
Unlike a candle,
I can’t blow out it’s light.
It’s magnificent, pure energy,
Turning the night sky into broad daylight
Wherever it caresses the ground.
Lightning runs through my veins,
Empowering me.
The sudden flashes of eternal brightness,
Show all the flaws I’ve been trying to hide.
The heat so enormous,
It melts all but the strongest of souls.
It burns away my flesh and corruption,
Leaving only my core untouched
Away from the sins of my past.
Free to arch across the stormy skies,
And dance across flat fields,
In unison with the racing of my heart.
